Intel promotional slides leak for i9-10900K, i7-10700K, and i5-10600K

Shortly after details and a performance review for multiple Comet Lake-S parts made their way online, Intel’s marketing material for the next-gen Core i9-10900K, i7-10700K, and i5-10600K have also been leaked. As promotional slides straight from Intel, these slides give us our clearest picture yet of how the 10th Gen Comet Lake-S parts stack against the Ryzen 3000 competition from AMD.

According to the leaked slides, the flagship Core i9-10900K will indeed feature a maximum boost of 5.3 GHz, by way of Thermal Velocity Boost technology, something that neither the lower-end i7 nor i5 parts support. What’s interesting, though is that the Core i7-10700K will also feature a max boost clock in excess of 5 GHz, with single-core boost clocks going up to 5.1 GHz. Intel’s Comet Lake strategy of cranking up power draw and clock speeds brings back memories of AMD’s efforts with its FX 9590, the first 5 GHz processor.

Apart from this, we get confirmation about the rumored clock speeds for all three of these parts. The Core i9-109009K will have an all-core turbo of 4.8 GHz across 10 cores. The Core i7-10700K will run 8 cores at a max of 4.7 GHz, and the 6-core, 12-thread Core i5-10600K will run all cores at a maximum of 4.5 GHz.

While we expect these CPUs to acquit themselves well against the current crop of Ryzen 3000 parts, the real question is how they’ll perform up against 4th generation Ryzen desktop processors, and what the pricing will be like. Furthermore, if Rocket Lake-S is launched this year itself, will the Comet Lake-S lineup be discontinued, or will it continue to serve a different market segment?
