Intel DG2 Mobile GPU Lineup Specs Leak Out: Up to 512 EUs or 4,096 Cores

The expected specifications of Intel’s next-gen Xe mobile GPUs, dubbed DG2 have been shared on Twitter by MebiuW, giving us an idea of what to expect from the company’s graphics division next year:

The DG2 lineup starts with 96EUs (identical to DG1) with 4GB of GDDR6 memory via a rather paltry 64-bit bus. This part has a TDP of 28W with a cTDP of up to 35W (expected). Above this, we’ve got a 128 EU variant with a TDP of 35W and an identical memory sub-system.

At the top, you’ve got three more GPUs featuring 512, 385 and 256 EUs, respectively. The latter comes with a TDP of 60W (cTDP: 80W), 4 or 8GB of memory paired across a 128-bit bus.

The 384 EU part has a default TDP of 80W, paired with 6 or 12GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit bus. Finally, the 512 EU flagship has a default TDP of 120W paired with 8 or 16GB of memory via a 256-bit bus. Keep in mind that each EU has eight ALUs or shaders/cores. So the top-end DG2 part actually packs 4,096 cores while its younger sibling with 384 EUs tops out at 3,072 cores. These cores, however, aren’t comparable to NVIDIA’s CUDA cores or AMD’s stream processors and have a lower IPC. This can be seen with Tiger Lake-U which features up to 96EUs or 768 cores and still is beaten by the GTX 1050 which has 640 shaders and is clocked roughly the same.

Another important point to note here is that since these are mobile dGPUs, the effective performance will vary from OEM to OEM depending on the thermals and TDP.
