Intel Core i9-11900K ES (4.4GHz Boosts) Beats Core i7-10700K by 10% in Single-Threaded Benchmarks

The Cinebench and CPU-Z benchmarks for Intel’s next-gen Rocket Lake-S flagship, the Core i9-11900K have surfaced, showing a single-core performance uplift of around 10% for this engineering sample. Keep in mind that the part tested was running at just 4.4GHz, much lower than the final boost clock of 5.4GHz, so the actual performance should be another 10% higher.

In Cinebench R20 and R23 as well as CPU-Z, the Rocket Lake CPU manages to beat the Core i7-10700K despite running at a much lower boost of 4.4GHz (vs 5.1GHz). The final performance lead should be somewhere in the 15-20% range.

The multi-threaded performance is less impressive, with the 11th Gen sample being just a few hundred points faster than Comet Lake-S in CB R20 and lagging behind in the CPU-Z all-core test. Although the final result will be higher, supposedly close to 6,000 in both cases, it’ll still trail behind the Ryzen 7 5800X by a notable margin.

On the bright side, this means that Intel will likely regain its lead in gaming workloads, though it’ll most likely be smaller this time around. Content creation and every other workload capable of utilizing more than 8 cores will continue to perform better on the Ryzen parts.

Intel is expected to announce the 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S parts in Jan during its CES keynote, followed by the hard launch in late March.
