Intel Core i9-11900K Beats the Ryzen 9 5950X in ST Benchmark; Slower than 5800X in MT [CPU-Z]

A leaked benchmark of Intel’s 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S flagship has surfaced, showing the Core i9-11900K beating all the Ryzen 5000 heavy-weights in CPU-Z’s single-threaded test by a notable margin. The multi-threaded performance, although decent, won’t win any medals. It’s slightly slower than the 5800X which is also an octa-core part. Regardless, it looks like Intel should be able to regain its lead in single-threaded and gaming workloads soon, pretty much reverting the state of the CPU market prior to the Vermeer launch.

Update: The Core i7-11700K performance is very close to the 11900K with a single-core score of 670 points and a multi-core result of 63xx points. That puts it smack dab alongside the Ryzen 7 5800X in the former but a fair deal behind in the latter.

As you can see in the above benchmark, the Core i9-11900K comfortably beats the Ryzen 7 5800X in the single-threaded benchmark but lags behind in the multi-threaded test, a result of better multi-threading on the Ryzen CPUs. The Ryzen 9 parts, on the other hand just fall short of the 11900K by 10-15 points which is within the margin of error, and can be chalked down to the higher boost clock of the Rocket Lake-S flagship. In the multi-threaded test though, the i9 is unsurprisingly steamrolled by the 12 and 16 core AMD processors.

PS: Keep in mind that this looks to be the final retail version, rather than an engineering or qualification sample as it has a base clock of 3.50GHz.
