Intel 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S Specifications Reportedly Leaked: 8C/16T Up to 5.3GHz

The specifications for Intel’s 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S processors have been leaked by a Twitter source, nicely compiled and compared by @harukaze5719 (much love). This gives us an idea of the performance uplift expected with Intel’s next-gen desktop processors and how they stack up against the existing Comet Lake-S parts:

CMT-SC/TSC BoostAll Core BoostL3
10900K10/205.2GHz4.8GHz20MB
10700K8/165.1GHz4.7GHz16MB
10600K6/124.8GHz4.5GHz12MB
104006/124.3GHz4GHz12MB

The primary difference in the specs is with respect to the flagship, namely the Core i9-11900K which will top out at eight cores instead of ten. This means AMD will retain the lead in multi-threaded workloads by quite the margin.

RKL-SC/TSC BoostAll Core BoostL3
11900K8/165.3GHz4.8GHz16MB
11700K8/165.0GHz4.6GHz16MB
11600K6/124.9GHz4.7GHz12MB
114006/124.4GHz4.2GHz12MB

At the same time though, Rocket Lake-S is going to feature a new core architecture, some form of Sunny Cove which brings an IPC uplift of around 15-20%, as well as AVX-512 support, though the latter is going to be axed from the consumer parts. What remains to be seen is how much IPC will the core lose upon being ported from the 10nm node (for which it was originally designed) to the dated 14nm node. If Intel can manage an overall single-threaded gain of 15-20% using a combination of higher IPC and clocks, then it might just give Rocket Lake-S a chance against AMD’s Ryzen 5000 chips.

Keep in mind that RKL-S will be Intel’s first consumer lineup with PCIe 4.0, Thunderbolt 4, Gen12 Xe graphics, a higher number of PCIe lanes, and other improvements to the display and media encoding engines.
