Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake-S Review Leaked: Performance Compared to AMD’s Ryzen 3000 Chips

In another bizarre “leak”, someone has managed to get their hands on Intel’s upcoming 10th Gen Comet Lake-S parts, benchmarked them and published the performance figures on the web. The chips include the Core i5-10400, 10500, 10600K and the i7-10700. The 10700 and the 10400 appear to be the final versions while the remaining two are Engineering Samples (ES), as such the final performance may vary slightly from these numbers. Let’s get to it:

Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake-S vs AMD Ryzen 3000 Performance Comparison

In Cinebench R15, the Ryzen 7 3700X maintains its top-spot and the Core i7-10700 comes in third, followed by the 3600X and the 9700K. The new Core i5 parts manage to handily beat their 9th Gen predecessors. Even the lowest-end, 10400 is a healthy 300 points faster than the 9600K. Not bad at all.

In Cinebench R20, the Core i7-10700 manages to edge past the Ryzen 7, but strangely the latter still has a higher single-threaded score. Similarly, the Core i5-10400 is faster than the 9600K in the multi-threaded benchmark but notably slower in the single-threaded test. This is due to the inclusion of hyperthreading on all the 10th Gen Comet Lake-S parts.

In the 7-zip and 3DMark tests, the same result is more or less reproduced. The Core i7-10700 is slightly faster on par with the Ryzen 7 3700X while the Core i5-10400 sits between the 9600K and the 8700K.

These results are quite encouraging for Intel fans. Granted, these are all synthetic tests and the Ryzen scores are notably lesser than what we got in our testing, considering that they’re basically the same old 9th Gen parts with SMT turned on, it’s not disappointing at all.
