Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Getting Ray-Tracing on PC Shortly, Team Working on a Patch

Ninja Theory is working on a patch for the PC version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice to enable ray-tracing (reflections) and higher visual fidelity (better textures, LOD, and particle effects) on the platform. This will basically be a port of the recently released update for the Xbox Series X|S which enhances the performance and quality of the game on the next-gen consoles, while also providing more flexibility over the resolution and target frame rate. On the Series X, you can now opt for 1080p 120 FPS for better performance, 4K 60 FPS for a balance between quality and performance or turn on ray-traced reflections, with the resolution capped at 40K 30 FPS. The same visual fidelity carries onto the Series S, albeit with half the frame rate.

It’s worth noting that the resolution on the consoles is still dynamic, and a maximum frame rate of 30 FPS at 4K with ray-tracing means that it’s still a fairly intensive game. Furthermore, I believe it’s basically scaled up from the older consoles, and as such doesn’t utilize all the features of the newer hardware.

We’re proud to present an all-new update for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, leveraging the power of the Xbox Series S and Series X. With three graphics modes you can pick your preference of frame rate, resolution, or visual fidelity, along with upgraded materials, particles and LOD (Level of Detail). We’ve also included the feature most requested by our community: chapter select! Now you can replay your favourite moments from Senua’s journey to Helheim, and make sure you track down every last lorestone.

Hellblade Optimized

The PC port will be free to owners of the game on both Steam, EGS, and Game Pass. At the moment, there are no plans to bring the update to the older-gen consoles.

Q: How much will this update cost?

A: This is a free update for existing Hellblade owners on Xbox Series X|S, and available on Game Pass.

Q: Will this update come to any other platforms?

A: An update for the PC version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is currently in development. There are no plans to bring this update to any other platform at this time.
