GTA V is the Mystery Free Game on Epic Games Store; Available Now Through May 21

Continuing the tradition of giving away surprisingly big-budget games for free once in a while, Epic Games Store has revealed the “Mystery” game of the week: GTA V. Yours to keep for a lifetime once you claim it, as with previous giveaways. And to top it off, it’s the GTA V Premium Online Edition, which includes added bonuses for GTA Online:

The Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack is the fastest way for new GTA Online players to jumpstart their criminal empires with the most exciting and popular content plus $1,000,000 bonus cash to spend in GTA Online – all content valued at over GTA $10,000,000 if purchased separately.

Launch business ventures from your Maze Bank West Executive Office, research powerful weapons technology from your underground Gunrunning Bunker and use your Counterfeit Cash Factory to start a lucrative counterfeiting operation.

Tear through the streets with a range of 10 high performance vehicles including a Supercar, Motorcycles, the weaponized Dune FAV, a Helicopter, a Rally Car and more. You’ll also get properties including a 10 car garage to store your growing fleet.

You’ll also get access to the Compact Grenade Launcher, Marksman Rifle and Compact Rifle along with Stunt Racing Outfits, Biker Tattoos and more.

At the time of writing this post, Epic Games Store has taken down the tweet confirming the title to be available starting today, and the Store itself is facing loading issues due to “high traffic”, as per their tweet:

One can only assume the earlier reveal kicked up a frenzy to acquire the game with users overloading the servers in doing so. It is expected to be resolved soon as the EGS staff is working on it. Until then, it may be difficult to add the game to your library. ( Here is the reveal trailer recorded by a user (Wario64) before the tweet was deleted –

If you don’t own the game on PC yet, this would be a no-brainer to add to your library, even if you’re not interested in actually playing the game.

GTA V was released back in 2013 and then again in 2015 for the next gen, and has gone on to become the highest-grossing, single entertainment title of all time, essentially beating the likes of Avatar and Star Wars.
