Gears of War 5 Looks Almost the Same on the Xbox Series X and One X

Recently, footage of Gears 5 on the Xbox Series X was shown off and it didn’t take folks long to draw comparisons with the One X version. Here are some side-by-side comparisons, courtesy of TWT:

The primary differences are with respect to the ambient lighting (global illumination). The Series X features a more intense variant of the one used on the One X, rather than a more refined technique. This is clear in the above two images.

The second most obvious change is with respect to the light shafts (god-rays). The Series X features a higher ray-shaft resolution compared to the One X, with softer edges, but they’re strill quite subtle. Other than that, the texture quality and filtering are also a step up on the Xbox Series X. The One X likely used 4x AF, while the XSX uses either 8x or 16x.
