For the First Time, HP Omen Gaming Laptops Now Feature AMD Ryzen 4000 Processors, $200 Less than Intel Variants

AMD’s Ryzen 4000 mobile processors have barely been out for a few months, and they’ve already started wrecking Intel’s notebook shares. All major OEMs from Dell to HP have started adopting the 7nm chips in their laptops and for good reason. (Dayvigo) They’re a big step up from Intel’s 14nm based products, both in terms of performance and efficiency.

HP’s Omen gaming laptops will also, for the first time feature the Ryzen 4000 mobile APUs, albeit in limited numbers. While the Intel variants are available just about everywhere, including the official HP store, the AMD model, for the time being, can only be found at certain online retailers like BestBuy.

Now, for the best part, the price: the Intel Core i7-10750H|GTX 1660 Ti combo cost nearly $1,700. The AMD Ryzen 7 4700H paired with the same GPU with identical memory and storage costs just $1,349, nearly $250 less, all the while offering more performance and longer battery life.

Surprisingly, while the AMD variant is already ready-to-ship, the Intel Comet Lake powered Omen will start shipping from next month, at least as per the HP store.
