Dell G5 SE Laptop Featuring Ryzen 4000 APUs and Radeon RX 5600M GPU Out Now: Starting @ $879

Dell has announced the launch of its first (recent) all-AMD gaming laptop, the G5 SE. Featuring the 45W Renoir lineup, ranging from the 6-core Ryzen 5 4600H to the 8-core Ryzen 9 4900H, it’s the first laptop to feature AMD’s SmartShift technology. Smartshift promises a performance boost of up to 14% without affecting the power or weight of the laptop. It does so by dynamically adjusting the total TDP of the system so that both the CPU and the GPU are able to take advantage of the extra headroom available to either.

The Dell G5 SE is also the first laptop to feature the 7nm Navi-based Radeon RX 5600M. This GPU is expected to be faster than both the GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q as well as the notebook model. To ensure that the laptop makes full use of AMD’s 7nm processors, it comes with dual-channel DDR4-3200MT/s memory as well as a 1080p 60Hz or 144Hz display with FreeSync support.

The storage options start with a 256GB NVMe SSD and go all the way up to 1TB. The Dell G5 SE has a screen size of 15.6″ and weighs just 5.51lbs. The laptop features a 51Whr battery and all the staples of a Dell gaming laptop including a backlit keyboard, USB 3.2 Gen 2, Type C, mini-DP, and HDMI 2.0 ports for additional displays.
