Cyberpunk 2077 Steam Play Base Has Dropped by 98% Since Launch: Witcher 3 Has More Concurrent Players

Cyberpunk 2077 has a rather…tragic launch. Although CDPR was able to recuperate the development costs even before the game launched, the launch itself was a disaster, especially on the older PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Refunds were offered in thousands, and the game was taken off the PlayStation store. So, how has this affected the sales and player base. Well, have a look:

At the time of launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has a peak concurrent player count of over 800K, with an average of 332.4K players for the month of December. Since then, the number of people playing the game has fallen drastically, with the last 30 days seeing an average of under 9,000 players. That’s a drop of over 98% if you compare the then peak to the peak for the present month (830K vs 15.45K).

In comparison, the Witcher 3 had an average of 18 thousand players online over the last thirty days with a peak of over forty thousand. This is slightly less than half as much as compared to the launch figures, but considering that the game has been out for over five years, it’s quite incredible. CBP 2077 has been out for less than a year, and it’s already dropped below 10K monthly players.
