Computex 2020 Likely to Get Delayed: Report

As the Coronavirus pandemic spreads across the globe, more and more countries have started going into lockdown. This includes the US, Canada, most European as well as Asian counties including China, India, and Malaysia. For hardware enthusiasts, this means no tech events or fests or any public eSports tournaments. CES was the only show to survive this year. MWC, GDC, GTC, and E3 have all been canceled or postponed.

Now, Computex 2020 is looking to be the next likely victim of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a DigiTimes report, many Taiwanese firms are suggesting the postponement of Computex. The event is held every year in Taipei (capital of Taiwan) in the first week of June. Considering present conditions, Computex is almost certainly going to get postponed and perhaps even canceled.

Taiwan has already banned the entry of foreign visitors and requires all returning Taiwan residents to go through a 14-day quarantine. Therefore, a show as big as Computex is most likely going to get curtailed. As of now, there’s been no word from Computex’s organizers – the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taipei Compute Association (TCA). As June draws closer and the COVID-19 pandemic shows no signs of slowing down, we should hear from them soon enough.
