Chuwi’s Aerobox Uses the Same AMD Motherboard and CPU as the Xbox One S [Update]

Remember Chuwi’s Aerobox that we shared with y’all a while back? So it turns out that not only does it looks like the Xbox, it also features the same hardware as the Xbox One S. Yeah, I know that’s not very flattering. After all, this is an octa-core Jaguar CPU (sorry not Bulldozer) paired with a paltry Radeon R7 350 GPU. The interesting bit, however, is that it is actually a console repurposed into a PC!

Now, that’s new, isn’t it? The Chuwi Aerobox features the same motherboard and CPU as the Xbox One S. We already know that all previous-gen consoles were based on AMD hardware. The Jaguar CPUs that powered the Xbox One S and PS4 was the mobile counterpart of Bulldozer. Unlike Bulldozer, these chips didn’t share resources per core complex and run at much tamer speeds. Think of them as the Intel Tremont/Goldmont counterpart.

So back to the topic at hand. The processor that powers the Xbox One S is an APU, not a CPU/GPU combo. It looks like Chuwi has disabled the integrated GPU and added a discrete Radeon R7 350 (don’t know why, it’s a terrible chip).

The board has also been modified to suit the needs of the PC audience. You’ve got four memory DIMMs along with PCIe based NVMe drives, in addition to SATA. Lastly, you’ve also got two PS2 connectors at the back, and a DVI port which is weird as there are two USB 3. (Tramadol) 0 and four USB 2.0 ports too.
