Chinese Guy Uses NVIDIA RTX 3080 Mobile for Mining

A Chinese user over at the Baidu forums has built a small mining system using a GeForce RTX 3080 mobile-powered laptop. The original chassis has been removed and replaced with a wooden enclosure that simply just holds the board in place.

Although it’s unclear how efficient this system is going to be at mining Bitcoin and Ethereum considering the thermal and power constraints, a recent benchmark of the RTX 3060 mobile shows promising results.

A laptop paired with a GeForce RTX 3080 will often cost close to the $2,000 mark, a sum for which you can buy two RTX 3080s (desktop) at present prices and three at the official MSRP. Considering that, this doesn’t sound like a very viable mining solution. However, miners have come up with crazier systems in the past:
