Best Gaming Laptops Powered by AMD Ryzen 4000 Processors

With the launch of AMD’s Ryzen 4000 APUs in the notebook space, Intel’s dated 14nm Comet Lake chips have become more or less obsolete. Packing up to eight 7nm Zen 2 cores with boost clocks as high as 4.4GHz, these parts easily crush the Intel competition. Here’s a list of the best Ryzen 4000 laptops on the market for gamers and content creators alike:

Dell G5 15 SE

The Dell G5 15 is the first laptop to feature AMD’s SmartShift technology which dynamically shifts the power consumption between the CPU and GPU as per the requirement. It features up to an octa-core Ryzen 7 4800H CPU and a Radeon RX 5600M. The latter is what makes this laptop special. It’s also the first laptop to feature the RX 5600M which is faster than both the GTX 1660 Super as well as the RTX 2060, all the while costing nearly half as much.

The Dell G5 features a 15″ FHD IPS display and is priced at $829.99. In comparison, the Intel counterpart powered by the hex-core i7-10750H is priced $10 higher at $839.99.

ASUS Zephyrus G14

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is the first 14″ laptop to feature an octa-core CPU with a TDP of 35W. It is powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 4900H and the GeForce RTX 2060, making it the most powerful gaming laptop in the 14″ form-factor. Its battery life is good for up to 11 hours for light multi-media and up to 4-5 hours for high-performance gaming.

To top it all off, it costs $1,499 which isn’t all that expensive for an ultrabook class gaming notebook. The first ultrabook class gaming notebook to be exact.

HP Omen 15

The HP Omen 15 gaming laptop is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU and an Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU. The Omen 15 features a 15.6-inch display with 180-degree flat hinge design. Best of all, this laptop offers 32 GB of high-bandwidth DDR4-3200 RAM that makes sure that the CPU isn’t starved by a slower memory interface. The battery life is slightly more with around 12 hours for light multi-media and up to 6 hours for intensive gaming workloads.

ASUS TUF A15

The ASUS TUF A15 is a budget-class gaming laptop that doesn’t skimp out on the hardware. Featuring up to a Ryzen 9 4900H (starting w/ the 4600H) and a GeForce RTX 2060 (starting w/ GTX 1650) and up to 1TB of NVMe storage (starting w/ 256GB) and a FHD 60Hz/120Hz display, it’s ideal for the mainstream gamer.

This is a ruggedly built laptop that can take a beating and come out safe and sound. As such, it’s ideal for folks who travel a lot and like to game while they’re at it.
