ASUS Drops Ryzen 5000 Support from X470 and B450 Motherboards

ASUS won’t be bringing Ryzen 5000 support to its existing B450 and X470 motherboards, a company rep has said in response to a user inquiry, who then shared it on Reddit.

Update: ASUS has replied to press inquiries, stating that they will be bringing support for Zen 3 on X470 boards early next year.

I am writing this email to provide you an update about your ongoing case. According to our engineers, We have no plans for the Crosshair VII Hero to support the Ryzen 5900X, please purchase Crosshair VIII Hero and any Ass B550 motherboard that will support Ryzen 5900X and 5000 series processors.

Earlier, AMD has promised to bring Ryzen 5000 (Zen 3) support to select B450 and X470 motherboards via beta BIOSes. However, as already reported, not all vendors will be doing the same. On Asus’ end, it looks like Zen 3 support won’t come to the existing boards, but might be brought to the revised models (Via):

ASRock and MSI on the other hand, have assured users that they’ll be bringing support for Zen 3 to all their existing X470 boards.
