AMD’s ProRender 2.0 Allows Ryzen CPUs and Radeon GPUs to Work Together, Doubling Performance

AMD today launched the Radeon Pro VII graphics card for content creators and professionals, and along with it a bunch of related tools. The most important is the ProRender 2.0 which lets you employ both your Ryzen CPU and Radeon GPU to speed your rendering workloads. Earlier, ProRender was a GPU-only software. Now, it not only supports CPU+GPU rendering, but also allows multi-GPU systems to run at the maximum potential using the Infinity Fabric Link.

ProRender 2.0 also features rendering algorithm improvements and a flexible shader node system. The various rendering materials, backgrounds and lights can now be defined via a network of shader nodes. The output of these nodes includes vectors, colors and shades.

As per AMD’s official figures, running a Ryzen Threadripper 3990X along with a Radeon Pro VII essentially doubles the performance over a pure GPU run. Radeon ProRender 2.0 includes plugins for Unreal Engine, Blender, AutoDesk Maya, Houdini, etc for faster rendering.
