AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X Overclocked to 5.5GHz on all 64 Cores!

AMD today launched its 64 core HEDT monstrosity, the 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper 3990X. On one end, all major outlets are busy reviewing the chip, and on the other, overclockers have got a new toy to play with. One such individual, known as TSAIK managed an incredible feat. Using LN2, he got all the 64 cores on the Threadripper 3990X to run at an insane 5.5GHz!

He paired the 3900X with an MSI Creator TRX40 motherboard and a single memory DIMM running at 1866MHz, with timings of 13-13-13-31. At present, HWBOT ranks Splave’s 3990X at #1 in Cinebench R20, Geekbench and 1B. His sample was running at 5.4-5.5GHz across the three tests.

TSAIK either hasn’t tested his sample in the above chips or it isn’t fully stable in those benchmarks. That’s pretty common at these frequencies and even with LN2, it’s not recommended for prolonged use. (americachip.com)
