AMD Ryzen CPUs (Still) Slower on Windows 11 22H2 in Gaming Workloads

Performance issues plaguing AMD’s Ryzen processors on Windows 11 can be replicated to this day. First discovered with the early variants of the operating system, these largely boil down to inter-die latency on the higher-end models. As reported last month, even the newly launched Ryzen 9 7950X suffers from this anomaly. The 16-core Raphael flagship is 17% faster in Metro Exodus, with one of its CCDs disabled.

Additional data from CapFrameX shows that this bug is prevalent across all generations of the Ryzen family. Testing has revealed that the Ryzen 9 5900X is up to 20% faster on a fresh installation of Windows 11 22H2 compared to an upgraded one. This was observed in both old and new titles.
