AMD Ryzen 9 5900H up to 25% Faster than the 4900H in ST Performance: On Par with Core i5-11300H

A Geekbench 5 benchmark of AMD’s next-gen Cezanne mobile flagship, the Ryzen 9 5900H has surfaced on Twitter. With a base clock of 3.3GHz and a boost of 4.64GHz, this sample is likely going to perform very close to the final retail version.

The Ryzen 9 5900H nets a single-core score of 1,520 points and a multi-core score of 9,325 points. While this is roughly 25% higher than the single-core performance of the Renoir based Ryzen 9 4900H, the multi-core score is just around 14% faster.

Comparing this part against the Intel Core i5-11300H (Tiger Lake-H), the Cezanne chip has a small lead on account of the higher boost clock of 4.64GHz (vs 4.39GHz on the 11300H). As expected, the multi-core score is nearly twice as high on the 5900H compared to the 11300H on account of the eight-core design.

One primary change with Cezanne other than the core architecture (Zen 3) is the doubling of the L3 cache. Renoir featured a much smaller L3 cache (up to just 8MB) compared to their desktop Matisse variants which featured 32MB for the octa-core chips. Cezanne doubles the L3 cache to 16MB compared to Renoir. This should improve gaming performance as well as cache and memory latency/bandwidth.
