AMD Ryzen 7000 vs Intel 13th Gen Core CPU Pricing Compared

AMD’s Ryzen 7000 CPUs have finally hit the retail market as Intel unveiled its 13th Gen Raptor Lake processors today. In this post, we’ll compare the specifications and pricing of these rival CPU lineups to get a better idea of the positioning of the desktop market. It’s worth noting that while Raptor Lake-S is essentially a refresh (with more E-cores squeezed in), Raphael features a brand new core architecture, albeit with the same counts.

Intel Core i9-13900K vs. AMD Ryzen 9 7950X:

• The Core i9-13900K is a beastly 24-core processor with 8 “Raptor Cove” P-cores and 16 “Gracemont” E-cores. The Ryzen 9 7950X, on the other hand, packs sixteen Zen 4 cores running at a peak (1C) boost clock of 5.7GHz.
• The P-cores on the 13900K top out at 5.8GHz (1C), drawing up to 253W under load, some 30W more than the 7950X.

• The 13700K features 16-cores (8P + 8E) operating at a peak single-core boost clock of 5.4GHz. The Ryzen 7 7700X comes with 8-cores and a peak frequency of 5.4GHz but can boost to 5.55GHz with proper cooling.
• The 13th Gen Core i7 has a max power draw of 253W, substantially higher than the 7700X’s upper limit of 142W.
