AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D Reportedly Faster than 5800X in ST Workloads (CB R20) Despite Lower Boost Clock

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is set to launch next month with a whopping 100MB of total cache, courtesy of the 3D stacked cache die packing as much as 64MB of SRAM. As is the case with 3D stacking, the 5800X3D is going to run notably hotter than its 2D cousin. To compensate for this additional heat, AMD has lowered the boost clock of the SKU from 4.7GHz to 4.5GHz, and reportedly disabled overclocking as well.

Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is supposedly faster than the 5800X in single-threaded workloads, at least as per Cinebench R20 1T. This data was shared by @momomo_us in a recent tweet. The Zen 3D part scores higher than all existing AMD processors in the Cinebench R20 single-threaded benchmark. With a score of 651, it beats the Ryzen 7 5800X (629), the Ryzeh 9 5900X (639), and even the Ryzen 9 5950X (649).

Granted, the lead is nominal but it ascertains that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D won’t suffer from reduced performance due to its lower boost clock of thermal limitations.
