AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Beats the Intel Core i9-10900K by 10% in Single-Threaded Performance (CPU-Z)

The single-threaded performance of AMD’s Ryzen 5000 processors is looking to be the strongest aspect of the new lineup. A while back, we saw the Ryzen 5 5600X beating the Intel Core i9-10900K in the Passmark single-core test. Today, we have the CPU-Z single-threaded benchmark of the Ryzen 7 5800X, AMD’s next chip aimed at enthusiast gamers and content creators:

The $449 part which packs eight Zen 3 cores, with a base and boost clock of 3.8GHz and 4.7GHz, respectively is around 10-11% faster than Intel’s 10th Gen flagship, the Core i9-10900K which has a boost clock of 5.3GHz.

This should put two side-by-side in terms of gaming performance, just ahead of the Core i7-10700K. In case you’re, wondering, yes, we’ll see the 65W variants such as the 5700X and 5600 next year when the strain on TSMC’s 7nm capacity eases up abut, right in time for the Rocket Lake-S launch. I expect Rocket Lake to be slightly faster than the Ryzen 5000 parts in gaming. A 10-15% IPC boost along with boost clocks north of 5GHz will make them a decent product stack.
