AMD Ryzen 7 4700G Overclocked to 5GHz Across All Cores Without LN2

On the eve of the Renoir desktop launch, we have another impressive result featuring the flagship APU, the Ryzen 7 4700G. The processor was overclocked to nearly 5GHz across all eight cores using a standard AIO cooler, no LN2 whatsoever:

The APU was tested on a Gigabyte B550 motherboard paired with 16GB of DDR4 memory. Although the voltage used was quite high (1.5v), this is an impressive result nonetheless.

A stock 4700G is known to be on par with a Ryzen 7 3800X or the Core i7-10700K for a much lower price. Meanwhile a mild overclock of 100-200MHz pushes it past both these chips, leveling with the likes of the 3800XT.

When running at around 5GHz, it’s certainly going to turn some heads. I reckon it might even beat the Core i9-10900K in some tests. While the latter will still be faster in gaming and certain multi-threaded workloads, let’s not forget that these two parts are quite far apart both in terms of the pricing and the target market.
