AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Falls to Retail Price Following the Ryzen 7 5800X

Starting from the last week of February, the best gaming CPU on the market, AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X has been available at its official MSRP of $449, easing concerns of gaming facing one of the worst component shortages in history. If you’re looking to build a high-end PC for both gaming and content creation workloads, then the 5800X is the sweet spot, offering higher single-threaded as well as multi-threaded performance compared to rival Intel parts.

Its budget Zen 3 sibling, the Ryzen 5 5600X, on the other hand, has been selling for nearly twice the MSRP for several months, until now. Starting from today, both Amazon and Newegg have reduced the price of the 5600X to $299, the official launch MSRP. It’s been nearly a day since the CPU has been stock at the SEP, indicating sufficient supply, with AMD promising even more shipments in the coming weeks.

The higher-end Ryzen 9 5900X and 5950X, however, continue to remain either out of stock or obscenely overpriced at just about every retailer, both online and offline. Supply for the same is expected to improve only in the latter half of 2021.
