AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Expected to Launch in Q1 2020 (After Rocket Lake)

As per sources on Twitter, AMD will launch the Ryzen 5 5600 shortly after or before the Rocket Lake-S launch, with a price-tag of $220. It is expected that the Ryzen 5 5600X performs similar or better than the Core i7-10700 in gaming workloads while severely outperforming it in multi-threaded applications.

Earlier today we published a story as per which Intel will be launching the 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S desktop processors at lower prices, with the Core i5-11600K at $249 and the Core i7-11700K at $479. It’s almost certain that AMD will have a counter to this either in the form of dropping Zen 3 prices or launching newer SKUs, namely the Ryzen 5 5600 and the Ryzen 7 5700X for $220 and $399, respectively.

Keep in mind that unlike the previous four generations, Rocket Lake-S will use a new core architecture and larger cache sizes, so the gains in gaming performance won’t be limited to those from frequency uplifts. We can expect an IPC gain of 5-7% and another 10% increase in gaming performance thanks to the larger L3 cache.
