AMD Reportedly Launches Faster vBios for the Radeon RX 5600 XT to Match the RTX 2060

According to rumors floating on the web, AMD may have increased the performance of the Radeon RX 5600 XT via a BIOS update. While in theory, this is quite possible, we can’t confirm it officially till the embargo lifts. Sapphire’s RX 5600 XT product specifications have also changed recently, also point to a BIOS and minor specifications update:

Earlier the boost clock for the Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5600 XT was 1620MHz and the Game Clock was 1560MHz. Now, it has increased to 1750MHz and 1615MHz, respectively. That’s a rather hefty boost of 1.3GHz. This brings it even closer to the RX 5700. The TDP has also gone up by 10W to 160W. (Diazepam)

Like the RX 5700 series, the RX 5600 XT also uses the Navi 10 die with some CUs disabled. It has the same core count as the RX 5700. Just a cut-down memory bus and a lower clock. This BIOS update (if true) will bring it even closer to the RX 5700 at a lower price tag. This should put more pressure on NVIDIA’s RTX 2060 and the GTX 1660 Super, and if lucky even the RTX 2060 Super. Keep an eye out for our review of the Sapphire Pulse RX 5600 XT on the 21st. Cheers!
