AMD Renoir Desktop APUs to be Mostly Limited to OEMs: Only Two Lower-end Chips for DIY Retail

As earlier reported, it appears that Renoir will most likely be limited to OEMs in the desktop space in the form of the PRO models. There will be two chips for the retail market and DIYers, but both will be lower-end models with up to six cores. None of the Ryzen 7 variants will reportedly make their way to retail. Here’s a list of the entire Renoir lineup slated for launch on the 21st of July:

PRO APUs Limited to OEMs

AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G
AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750GE
AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G
AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650GE
AMD Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G
AMD Ryzen 3 PRO 4350GE

Retail Renoir for DIYers

AMD Ryzen 5 4600G
AMD Ryzen 5 4600GE
AMD Ryzen 3 4300G
AMD Ryzen 3 4300GE

As you can see, only two lower-end Ryzen 4000 “Renoir” APUs will make their way to the mainstream retail markets (along with their low-power GE variants). These are the Ryzen 3 4300G (+GE) and the Ryzen 5 4600G (+GE) which are quad and hex-core parts, respectively. The octa-core Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G and 4750GE will, on the other hand, be exclusive to OEMs. This makes sense as it would prevent cannibalization of the CPU lineup and also provide budget gamers with decent APU options. Keep in mind that these APUs, despite being the lower-end Renoir parts will still be a significant step up from the Picasso based Ryzen 3 3200G and 3400G:
