AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT will Draw Up to ~100W Less than the RTX 4090, Claims Power Supply Calculator [Rumor]

Power supply calculator Outer Vision has added the next-gen GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD to its database. Interestingly, SKUs such as the Radeon RX 7950 XT, RX 7900 XT, and the 7800 XT that are yet to be announced have also been included. Therefore, do take these figures with a heavy grain of salt. The power supply requirements for the RTX 4090, at least, are more or less accurate.

NVIDIA’s official guide noted that you need an 850W power supply to run the RTX 4090 without impromptu shutdowns. The calculator recommends a minimum wattage of 823-853W and suggests the Hydro G Pro 1000W power supply for optimal operation.

AMD’s Navi 3X flagship requires a 700-730W power supply at the minimum for smooth operation, or so Enermax claims. That’s a total of 100W lower than the RTX 4090. Accordingly, the Hydro GT PRO 850W power supply is the recommended power supply from Enermax.

Strangely, the Radeon RX 7950 XT has also been listed. We’re looking at a minimum wattage of 822W and the same 850W PSU recommendation as the 7900 XT.

The Radeon RX 7800 XT and the GeForce RTX 4080 are the other two notable SKUs added by Outer Vision. They’ve both been assigned the 700W power bracket and a 750W SMPS.

The RTX 4070 and 4060 are also included, but I decided to leave them out as no one will be worrying about their TGPs.
