AMD Radeon RX 6900XT Specs Confirmed: 80 CUs, 16GB VRAM w/ 256-Bit Bus

Thanks to Videocardz, we now have a confirmation on the specifications of AMD’s much anticipated Big Navi graphics card. It will be called the Radeon RX 6900XT and will be an AMD exclusive for the time being.

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT

The Navi 2x flagship, the Radeon RX 6900XT will be based on the Navi 21XTX die with as many as 80 Computer Units or 5,120 shaders. This is the first time that AMD has exceeded the 4,096 shader count, thanks to the better utilization of the RDNA architecture.

The 6900XT will be paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus. It is expected to have a game clock of 2040MHz and a boost clock of 2330MHz. There’s no mention of Infinity Cache or anything similar, and nor do we expect it to show up, at least not in the form everyone has been expecting.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT

The second fastest Navi 2x GPU, the Radeon RX 6800XT will feature 72 Compute Units or 4,608 shaders, with 16GB of GDDR6 memory. It’ll be a cut-down version of the Navi 21XTX die, codenamed Navi 21XT, and will pack the same 256-bit bus and a game clock of around 2GHz, with the boost reaching up to 2,250MHz.

AMD Radeon RX 6800

The Radeon RX 6800 will be the third GPU based on the Navi 21 die (21XL) with 64 Compute Units or 4,096 shaders. Similar to the other two cards, it’ll also be based on a 256-bit bus paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory. It is expected to have a game clock of 1,815MHz and a boost of 2,105MHz. All these three GPUs will reportedly be announced on the 28th of October.

Keep in mind that the actual in-game clocks will vary from OEM to OEM, depending on the cooling solutions and the factory overclocked versions should be 5-10% faster than the reference models.

Navi 22

There’s also the Navi 22 GPU which will power the Radeon RX 6700 series but it’s expected to launch early next year (tentatively: Jan). The 6700XT is expected to be the successor to the 5700XT with 40CUs or 2,560 shaders and 12GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit bus. The 6700 should have a slightly lower ALU count, but the rest of the specs should be the same.
