AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT vs NVIDIA RTX 3080 Gaming Benchmark Leaked (AoTS)

An Ashes Escalation benchmark for the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT has leaked out, allowing us to compare it against NVIDIA’s Ampere flagship, the RTX 3080. Both the GPUs were paired with an Intel Core i7-8700K and tested at the 1080p “Crazy” preset.

Update: The 4K benchmark has also been shared. Here, the 6800 XT is faster by a frame, as we’re more GPU bound here.

Both GPUs scores an average of 102 FPS or 10,100 points. This is a bit surprising as the 6800XT is supposed to be slightly faster than the 3080 in this AMD sponsored game, especially at sub-4K resolutions. It’s possible that we’re running into a CPU bottleneck as Ashes is known to be very CPU intensive, and the 8700K is hardly sufficient in a game known to utilize as many as 18 cores or 36 threads.
