AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT to Get 18Gbps High-Speed GDDR6 Memory

AMD’s budget RDNA 2 offering, the Radeon RX 6500 XT will feature the Navi 24 die paired with high-speed 18Gbps memory chips. Fabbed on TSMC’s 6nm (N6) node, the graphics processor will feature boost clocks of over 2.8GHz, resulting in potent 1080p performance despite being a very mediocre chip at its core.

The Radeon RX 6500 XT will feature 1,024 cores across 16 Compute Units and 8 Work Group Processors (WGPs). It’s expected to have a game clock of 2.6GHz, and a max boost limit of 2.8GHz. This results in an overall throughput of 5.7 TFLOPs. On the memory side, you’ve got 4GB of 18Gbps GDDR6 memory paired with a 64-bit bus, resulting in an external bandwidth of 144GB/s. Looking at the internal bandwidth consisting of the Infinity Cache speeds, we get a figure of 232GB/s.

The graphics card will have a TDP of 107W, and therefore, will solely draw power from the PCIe connector, not requiring any external power connectors. AMD is expected to announce the GPU during its CES keynote, followed by a launch later this month (19th Jan).
