AMD Big Navi Supply to be Dismal in Q4 2020 (Paper Launch)

Unfortunately, those of you looking to buy a Big Navi GPU this month will have to hold on a little longer. As per multiple sources, the Q4 supply will be very limited, more or less the same as NVIDIA’s Ampere GPUs for the remainder of the year.

We’ve got a total of three sources: YTer, HardwareUnboxed has claimed in a video that both the RX 6800XT and 6900XT will be a paper launch, as AMD will be looking to satisfy Ryzen 5000 and XSX/PS5 demand. All four product lineups are based on the same node (TSMC N7), so there’s a lot of pressure on the foundry. Don’t forget that the Zen 2 based Ryzen 3000 CPUs and the Ryzen 4000 (Renoir) chips also utilize the same process, and they’re also being produced in full swing. The supply should improve in the first quarter of 2021 as Apple moves most of its chips to the 5nm node.

Second, CapFrameX, another trusty source has also said the same about the Big Navi launch supply, stating it’ll be as bad as the RTX 30 series inventory. Lastly, we have some info from a certain AIB partner who believes that most APAC regions will only get a token supply, after which the GPUs will remain out of stock for the rest of the year.

We tried reaching out to AMD on this, but all we got was:

“We don’t have anything at the moment”
