AMD Big Navi Beats NVIDIA RTX 3090 in 3DMark Firestrike

Today, we have the first third-party benchmarks of AMD’s much anticipated Big Navi (RX 6800XT) graphics card. Although these are synthetics, it’s a good indication of how competitive the Radeon RX 6000 series is going to be:

Benchmarks from Igor indicate that this is indeed the RX 6800XT, rather than the RX 6900XT.

The source has labeled the GPU as Navi 21 XT, but keep in mind that this the Navi 21 XTX (RDNA 2 flagship). As you can see, it’s around 40% faster than the RTX 3070 and approximately 15% faster than the RTX 3080 in FireStrike Ultra and Extreme. It even manages to edge past the RTX 3090 in these tests.

However, TimeSpy and TimeSpy Extreme see the RTX 3080 take the lead by around 5-7%. This is likely due to the higher bandwidth of the Ampere cards as the RTX 2080 Ti is also faster than the non-GDDR6X based RTX 3070 here. (pawsitivelyintrepid) Still, this delta is within the acceptable margin, and if this holds true across most games, then AMD will have a capable 4K graphics card for gamers on the horizon.
