AMD 5nm Zen 4 Roadmap Leaks Outs: Phoenix on FP8, Raphael on AM5 w/ DDR5 & PCIe 5

Some more details regarding AMD’s Zen 4 based consumer products have surfaced. While we already knew a bit about the desktop form of Zen 4, Raphael, now the successor to the Zen 3 (refresh) in the notebook market has also been discovered.

Rembrandt will be succeeded by Phoenix and similar to Raphael will be based on the 5nm Zen 4 core along with an RDNA 2 (RDNA 3 is unlikely considering that Cezanne is still using Vega). It should come with DDR5/LPDDR5 support, plus the PCIe 5.0 interface. While Rembrandt will use the FP7 socket, Phoenix will leverage FP8.

Moving on to Raphael, this will be the first client desktop lineup to come with integrated graphics. Zen 4 is expected to be paired with an RDNA 3 chiplet GPU, both fabbed on TSMC’s 5nm EUV process, with a launch in mid to late 2023. It’ll also use the newer AM4 socket which brings support for DDR5 memory and the PCIe 5 standard.

It’s unclear whether Warhol will retain the AM4 socket to migrate to AM5, but considering that it’s the same core architecture and process node, it’d be a shame if it’s the latter. As for Rembrandt, we’re not sure whether AMD will be opting for TSMC’s 6nm or 7nm node, but considering that both Warhol and Cezanne are using the latter, it’s hard to imagine going with a separate node for just one product stack.
