Alienware Aurora R11 with 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10300 with 4 Cores and 8 Threads @ 4.2GHz Spotted

Intel is expected to launch the 10th Gen Comet Lake-S lineup in Feb 2020 in an attempt to reinforce its desktop offerings. Ever since the Ryzen 3000 CPUs launched in June, Intel has been rapidly losing ground on all fronts. Earlier, rumors suggested that team blue might drop prices of its 9th Gen Coffee Lake lineup to keep up with the Matisse chips, but we haven’t seen any significant price-cuts. Most likely due to the limited supply of 14nm CPUs. A well-known Twitter source, TUM_APISAK has shared the specs of the 10th Gen i3-10300 (lineup codenamed Comet Lake-S) and it seems like we’re getting another 14nm rehash:

We are looking at a quad-core CPU with hyperthreading enabled, the first i3 to leverage the feature. Another sign of AMD’s resurgence that initially started off with Intel bumping the core counts of all its mainstream processors. Just two generations back, the Core i7-7700K had the same config as the upcoming Core i3-10300. (beyoung.in)

Given that this is an engineering sample and UserBenchmark doesn’t always report the highest single clock boost. We’re getting a base clock of 3.7GHz (same as the 9300), and a boost of most likely 4.4GHz just 100MHz less than the 7700K. The additional four threads won’t have any noticeable impact on gaming performance but multi-threaded workloads like content creation, encoding, and compression/decompression should get a healthy boost.

Furthermore, this Core i3-10300 was most likely running an H410 board and appears to be a pre-build Alienware Aurora R11 PC. We should hear more about the Comet Lake-S CPUs at CES next month. We’ll keep you posted!
