7nm Intel Meteor Lake-S CPUs Taped In; Granite Rapids Reportedly Coming in Q4 2022

There are a couple of updates on Intel’s upcoming 7nm-class processors today. Firstly, the first 7nm desktop processors from the company, codenamed “Meteor Lake” have been taped in. This is the step that precedes the tape out (logic design completion). Meteor Lake CPUs are expected sometime in mid to late 2023 and will form the 14th Gen Core lineup, and go up against AMD’s Zen 5 lineup. The info was shared by the Executive Vice President & GM of Intel’s Client Computing Group, Gregory Bryant today:

Meanwhile, another fairly reputed source on Twitter has indicated that Intel’s 5th Gen Xeon Scalable Server processors, codenamed “Granite Rapids” may land in the last quarter of 2022. This is still unconfirmed but looking at Intel’s roadmap, if Sapphire Rapids arrives by the end of this year, then its successor should launch roughly after a year or 15 months.
