7nm AMD Ryzen 4000 (Renoir) APUs to Feature up to 65% Faster Graphics

While we do know that the Ryzen 4000 APU lineup (Renoir) will feature up to 8 Zen 2 cores on the CPU side, the graphics part is still not clear. Some sources say that we’ll see integrated Navi but that’s highly unlikely. We’ll probably get a beefed-up Vega GPU with as many as 16 Computer Units or 1,024 shader units. This is in-line with the graphics benchmark leaked (by TUM_APISAK) on Twitter) today that compares the Renoir GPU to the Vega 10 found on the Ryzen 7 2700U and 3700U:

The UserBenchmark scores put the Renoir GPU up to 65% faster than the older Vega 10 part. Going by the 16CU theory, that makes sense. Since the architecture is the same, and we’ll certainly see a higher GPU clock, a 60% increase in shader strength should alone result in at least a 50% performance boost. Add to that the higher boost clock and the overall advantage over the Vega 10 climbs up to 60-65%.

The 7nm Renoir based laptops will be announced by AMD CEO, Dr. Lisa Su at CES next week. The 64 core Threadripper 3990X and possibly even the Zen 3 architecture is expected to be revealed. Cheers!
