Intel’s Core i9-12900KS will be launched sometime later this year. Essentially a factory overclocked variant of the 12900K, the 12900KS has a boost clock of 5.5GHz, a 300MHz improvement over the former’s single-core boost of 5.2GHz. A leaked benchmark of the same shows the SKU running at 5.4GHz, leveling with the 32-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X, a workstation processor featuring twice as many cores. On top of that, this isn’t even the retail variant. We’re likely looking at an engineering sample running at 5.4GHz.
The Core i9-12900KS is paired with an ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming and an AIO cooler which keeps the temps under 80 degrees. In terms of memory, we’re looking at a quad-channel kit running at 3,600MHz in Gear 2 mode (controller at 1,850MHz). Despite the modules set to lose timings, the memory latency is an impressive 51.5ns.
